Summer evening walk and BBQ, 14 July

The weather was against the Friends for the summer walk and BBQ buffet, but a hardy group of around twenty-five (25) joined John Anderson, Keeper of the Gardens, to spend over an hour walking around The Savill Garden.

The Gardens of Herefordshire, 29 June – 2 July

Thirty-six (36) Friends and guests left The Savill Garden coach park early on the morning of 29 June, heading for Herefordshire to see seven (7) gardens over four (4) days – quite a daunting prospect, but well worth it.

The autumn season

On Saturday 13 May, 50 Friends and their guests joined a tour of the Valley Gardens and the Punch Bowl, led by John Anderson, Keeper of the Gardens, and Patricia Craven, Valley Gardens Supervisor.

Adventure Play and sustainability

We are delighted that on Wednesday 12 July 2023 we opened Adventure Play to the public, after two years of construction.

Falling into autumn – American style

One of my favourite times of the year is autumn – especially for the spectacular leaf colour which can be seen across Windsor Great Park from so many of the North American native trees. The Gardens along with key areas of Windsor Great Park have some stunning specimens that light up the sky with dazzling displays of colour.

The Chapel Wood Arboretum tree inventory

Last year the Chapel Wood Arboretum tree inventory team shared with Friends of The Savill Garden that we were asked to undertake a survey or inventory of Chapel Wood Arboretum. This was following the news that we had over a hundred champion trees there and we wanted to find out where they were, why they were champions, and what was remarkable about them.
