Severe weather closures

With a yellow weather warning now issued by the Met Office, and following our severe weather plan, we have taken the decision to close all access to Windsor Great Park on Saturday 7 December.

This decision includes the closure of all car parks, visitor centres, attractions and the Christmas Tree Shop.

For a full list of closures see our visitor updates.

Windsor Castle

Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world. Founded by William the Conqueror in the 11th century, it has since been the home of 40 monarchs.

The Castle is open to visitors throughout the year. In the magnificent State Apartments you’ll explore ceremonial rooms that are used today by the Royal Family and discover historical rooms that were built for Charles II and his Queen, Catherine of Braganza.

Your visit also includes the masterpiece in miniature, Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House, and medieval St George’s Chapel which contains the tombs of 11 monarchs, including Queen Elizabeth II, Henry VIII and Charles I.
