Birds of Prey hands-on encounters
Hosted by Berkshire Birds of Prey, get up close with nature’s most breathtaking hunters in the Lawns, an enclosed area beside The Savill Garden & Adventure Play Visitor Centre
The friendly team from Berkshire Birds of Prey will guide you as you meet magnificent owls, hawks, falcons and kestrels.
If you’d like to get to know the birds even better then for a fee you can hold any of the birds on display for a hands-on encounter.
Learn the stories and the fascinating facts behind these birds at this drop-in day open between 9am and 5pm.
Cost
- The event is free to enter
- £2 each to hold a small bird of prey
- £5 each to hold a large bird of prey
- Prices are per bird
- Parking charges in The Savill Garden & Adventure Play car park apply for non-members and for customers visiting The Savill Garden or Adventure Play
Event entry:
- This event is a drop-in day, open between 9am and 5pm
- Access the Lawns via the large wooden gates on Rhododendron Ride, 200m/600ft away from the entrance to The Savill Garden & Adventure Play Visitor Centre in the direction of the coach park – follow the signs from the Visitor Centre
- There is no entry to the Lawns from inside The Savill Garden
Important information
For the safety and comfort of these birds of prey, the following are not permitted inside the Lawns
- Dogs, with the exception of assistance dogs
- Food and drink, and picnics, with the exception of drinks in reusable cup containers with lids
- Bikes and scooters

Enter through the large wooden gates on Rhododendron Ride, 200m/600ft from the entrance to The Savill Garden & Adventure Play Visitor Centre in the direction of the coach park
There is no entry to the Lawns from inside The Savill Garden
£2 each to hold a small bird
£5 each to hold a large bird
Prices are per bird and per person, with the majority of birds on the day classified as small
Parking charges apply in The Savill Garden & Adventure Play car park for non-members
Booking is not required for this event
The event is a drop-in session between the hours of 9am and 5pm
A Savill Garden ticket is not required to enter the Lawns
