Windsor Great Park has collaborated with Tee Stevenson from Bloom & Bear, a British surface print designer & maker, celebrating horticulture with a mixture of bespoke prints on a range of homeware and accessories.

The Great & The Glorious range, created exclusively for Windsor Great Park draws inspiration from the botanical of The Savill Garden and the ancient oaks of the Windsor Estate, beginning as watercolour and ink illustrations hand-painted by Tee.

“On my visit to The Savill Garden, I was captivated by the eclectic mix and naturalistic form of the planting. Inspired by the flowing movement of structural elements, meandering pathways, and tall swaying grasses, I started to get a feel for what the garden imbues”.

“I love the informality in the way herbaceous borders gently spill over the edge and how colours drift throughout the planting schemes. This relaxed natural feel began to inspire the content and layout for the prints.”

“My own style of illustration has a very organic expression. Flowing watercolour and inks are layered with hand drawn illustrations, so I knew this would capture the right feel.”

The inspiration behind the collection

The collaboration with Tee, a biophilic designer, brings to life a visual story that reflects the seasonal changes of the Windsor Estate, and highlights the landscape’s historic Royal connections.

The colourful ‘Glorious’ print embraces all four seasons with a specific botanical:

  • Spring: The Eric Savill Magnolia, commissioned by George V and designed by Eric Savill, this springtime flower symbolises the very creation of The Savill Garden itself.
  • Summer: Floribunda Rosa ‘Princess of Wales’ found within the sweeping curves of the contemporary Rose Garden, this charming flower has a beautiful Royal connection.
  • Autumn: Maple leaves with their transformation in autumn that turn the Garden into a glowing, golden spectacle.
  • Winter: Helleborus ‘Ice Breaker’ brings joy to The Savill Garden in the winter months. Hellebores are a personal favourite of mine and feature in my own collection of fabric designs.

The great ancient oaks of Windsor Great Park provide a leafy and verdant backdrop to the glorious florals of The Savill Garden, resulting in the creation of three prints that can be mixed and matched across the collection.

Natural beauty

The Crown Estate and Tee Stevenson share a passion for natural beauty and a commitment to sustainable practices.

Designs are printed onto unbleached, natural woven fabrics which are certified organic, without the use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides.

Fabric waste is kept to a minimum, with small offcuts used to create individual fabric key rings.

Mirroring The Crown Estate’s ethos for supporting local business, based in her garden studio in Newbury, West Berkshire, Tee’s work is designed, printed, and made in the UK. Each piece is made by hand, creating a one-of-a-kind item that celebrates traditional craft skills and the connection between the maker and the item.

The Great & the Glorious range includes cushions, lampshades, tote bags, zipped pouches and keyrings and are available exclusively at The Savill Garden Visitor Centre.
